The government of India has conferred on Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn the first world Sanskrit Award. Princess Sirindhorn is a scholar of Sanskrit who was the Royal Patron of the World Sanskrit Conference held in Bangkok last year. Thailand successfully hosted the 16th World Sanskrit Conference last year, attended by over 600 Sanskrit scholars from 60 countries. Thailand is always very positive about Hindu culture and Indian philosophy. They also celebrate Ram Leela and organize Hanuman festival every year in which they feed bananas and other fruits to thousands of monkeys.
