SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
A number of Magsaysay Laureates move societies towards sustainable living.
HIROSHI KUROKI is one of Japan’s most dedicated civil servants, who returned to his land of birth, Miyazaki, one of the poorest of prefectures, to develop its potentials in agriculture and tourism thus realizing the socio-economic transformation of the prefecture.
Similarly, another Japanese Magsaysay Laureate, MORIHIKO HIRAMATSU, has transformed the economic stability of his prefecture through his innovative “One Village, One Product” scheme.
These two Japanese civil servants are just some of the Ramon Magsaysay Awardees who are using innovation and their society’s infrastructures to bring economic stability to their peoples.
